Priyanka Chopra had recently announced that she was developing a biopic on Ma Anand Sheela, a controversial Indian godman, Rajneesh Osho’s closest aide. PeeCee made the announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January and since then, she has been very cautious about all developments related to it. In a recent interview with mid-day, the Desi girl commented that Ma Anand Sheela project was stuck to her by destiny, and not something that she had anticipated.
The report mentioned that American director Barry Levinson was tinkering with the idea of a feature film for years. Levinson and his team finally decided to hit up Priyanka to be a producer and an actor for the project. "I have to credit director Barry Levinson for bringing this movie to me. He will be directing the project. He and his producers have been researching on this subject and developing it for the last few years. He approached me to develop it with him," Chopra was quoted as saying by mid-day.
According to the publication, the film will follow the life of Ma Sheela and her transformation from a student of fine arts in India to becoming the right hand and closest aide of Rajneesh Osho, a godman who was convicted of several murder attempts.
Priyanka revealed that the project calls for an enormous amount of research and that means that it’ll be quite a while since the project finally hits the floors. "The Ma Sheela biopic is way in the future and will take some time to fructify. I'm doing a few other things in the meantime, which includes a YouTube series and writing a book," she told mid-day.
