A US judge set rapper R Kelly’s bail at $1 million after he was charged for sexually assaulting four women, three of whom were minors. R Kelly had faced several claims of sexual assault. Currently, he is indicted and booked for 10 counts of sexual assault. The singer, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was not convicted prior to this and denied all the prior allegations that were levied against him. According to reports, an arrest warrant was issued and on February 22, he turned himself to the cops.
Despite his bail being set at $1 million, he has to cough up $100,000 to get a release. Reports said that R Kelly has surrendered his passport. He is also ordered to cease contact with any of the victims and with anyone aged under 18. Though Kelly did not enter a plea, his lawyer claimed that the women who testified against him are all liars. Previously, Kelly was brought into court for child pornography where prosecutors showed him having sex and urinating on an underage girl. While the girl was identified by witnesses, she refused to testify. Kelly’s lawyers said her identity couldn’t be confirmed for certain and he was acquitted of all charges.
Reports said that Kelly has been accused several times in the past for sexually abusing minor girls. Cosmopolitan reported that there were allegations that Kelly kept women in a ‘sex cult’.
