In a fresh bout, actor Rose McGowan slams veteran actor Meryl Streep who plans to wear black at the Golden Globes as a sign of protest against sexual harassment in Hollywood. McGowan was one of the firsts to come out against Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault.
Since the coming out, she has been consistent about the issue of sexual harassment and patriarch culture of Hollywood. In fact she urged others to speak up too forming her own army namely Rosearmy. Recently, she took to twitter to denounce actresses for wearing black at the Golden Globe awards calling them for their silence and accepting fake awards.
“Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in a silent protest. YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa.”
Marchesa, a womenswear company, was founded by Weinstein's ex-wife Georgina Chapman. Weinstein is presumably the “Pig Monster” referred to in the tweet. This tweet was later removed.
Earlier, McGowan called Ben Affleck a liar on Twitter and suggested that the Justice League actor knew about Weinstein’s conduct.
“GODDAMNIT! I TOLD HIM TO STOP DOING THAT’ you said that to my face. The press conf I was made to go to after assault. You lie.”
Last month, she also met with the accusers of Harvey Weinstein like Asia Argento and Annabella Sciorra. Since the producer was busted, over 90 women have come out to narrate their harrowing stories of sexual abuse including A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan and Lupita Nyong’o.Read More
