It seems like Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has found himself in a rather strange situation. The actor who essays the role of Jonathan Byers on the Duffer brothers-created popular series, has allegedly been declined entry into the US after being caught with cocaine at the airport.
The British actor, reports say, was flying to Los Angeles for the launch party of season two when he is said to have been caught with the substance by sniffer dogs.
US border officials denied the 23-year-old entry to the country last Saturday and deported him back to London where he had flown from just hours before, claimed a Daily Mail report.
It meant that he was missing from the premiere of the Netflix-produced supernatural show on Thursday evening.
Heaton could also be barred from entering the US in future which means he would struggle to take part in filming for the hit series.
Reports also suggest that while he was not arrested, he was held at the airport for a while and then put back on a plane to London that night. Foreign nationals in possession of large amount of drugs may be charged. In this case though it seems like the drug was for personal use.
However, the US laws are very strict on the subject of possession of drugs and there’s a chance that Heaton won’t be allowed into the country.Fans reacted to the mishap showing concern for the future of Stranger Things.
I really hope that the Charlie Heaton bust won't mess with his career. He's a rising talent that I hope doesn't get snuffed out earlier.— Ian Byrd (@byrd156) October 28, 2017
Charlie Heaton! the only thing that bothers me of this is him being banned from the states and not being able to shoot s3— Elena (@andrewminyardd) October 28, 2017
