Vanessa Kirby is reportedly under consideration to play the role of Catwoman. According to a report by Geeks WorldWide, The Crown star Vanessa Kirby is on the radar of The Batman director Matt Reeves to play the iconic part of Selina Kyle in his new revamp of the character. It states that formal talks have not yet begun with the actress but she is a serious contender for the role.
It was previously confirmed that the film will star a host of Batman villains, with The Penguin and Catwoman likely to play major roles. Robert Pattinson has already been confirmed to be stepping into the cape and cowl of Batman, as the film focuses on the character as a fledging newer hero and detective.
Previous actresses to play the role of Catwoman include Michelle Pfeiffer, Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, Julie Newmar, and Eartha Kitt. Kirby is best known as Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of The Crown, but the role has been recast with Helena Bonham Carter as the show moves ahead to Margaret's later life.
Vanessa Kirby has also appeared recently in Mission: Impossible - Fallout alongside Tom Cruise and can next be seen in Fast & Furious presents Hobbs & Shaw. In Hobbs & Shaw, she portrays the on-screen sister of Jason Statham's character and is the lead female role in the film. The Batman is released in cinemas on June 25, 2021.
