While the environment across LoC between India and Pakistan remains intense, the host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, managed to find 'entertainment' in the situation. Last night, on his show, Trevor made fun of India vs Pakistan war (if it happens) and even mocked the war cry by Indian soldiers as he compared it to Indian songs. He went on to say that if the war takes place, it would be the longest war due to the ‘dance number’. This has definitely not gone down well with netizens, who are bashing him for clearly failing to understand the severity of the situation and being insensitive in his comments.
Trevor's video has gone viral on the internet, and not just for mocking the Indians, he is even being bashed for being racist and despicable. Though he begins the video by saying that 'he hopes India and Pakistan do not go to war,' his next few words have irked netizens to the next level. Some also went on to say that Noah's stereotypical jibes at Indians will make the 'Hindutva Diaspora in the USA mad!'
Trevor, who has won many accolades for his distinct comedy, may have gone a little below the belt with this act. However, it is nothing new to him. He has had his share of controversies for making fun of the racial discrimination that persists between whites and blacks.
