Who shall represent the dark side of the force as the Skywalker saga draws to a close? Star Wars has had many iconic villains throughout its history, but the most recent instalment to the main series - The Last Jedi - saw multiple villains including Supreme Leader Snoke and Captain Phasma dispatched. However, with the return of evil Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) to look forward to in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we have been wondering where he fits in with the plans of new First Order leader Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
Well, it looks like Palpatine will have back-up, as a new-look stormtrooper has been unveiled. The Star Wars account on YouTube has revealed the new red stormtrooper, known as a Sith Trooper. Affiliation with the Sith has been avoided so far in the sequel trilogy, with Snoke and his apprentice Kylo Ren serving the Dark Side in a less dogmatic way.
However, with a return for Palpatine, perhaps Ren will turn to the old ways too. Will Rey be able to defeat her dangerous new foe? In addition to Palpatine, Kylo Ren, and General Hux (Domnhall Gleeson), the dark side will also have Oscar-nominee Richard E. Grant join the cast as Allegiant General Pryde. The allegiances of newcomer "scoundrel" Zori Bliss (Keri Russell) remain a little more ambiguous, but could she be part of the new wave of bad guys?
We can't wait! Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will release in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.Read More
