Irrfan Khan has collaborated with India's top comedy collective, All India Bakchod (AIB) on multiple occasions. And they managed to hit the ball right out of the park every time. There was another collab that was going to take place between them in the form of Gormint, a political satire which was supposed to premiere on Amazon Prime Video India in January 2019. However, Irrfan has opted out of the series because of his current health situation. A significant portion of the show had already been shot.
Irrfan Khan is currently in London where he is taking a treatment for neuro-endocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer which he was detected with early this year. He has completed five rounds of chemotherapy so far and is scheduled to do another one.
The actor released a statement informing that he won't be a part of this project due to health concerns.
AIB's Gursimran Khamba wrote the show specifically with Irrfan in mind. "The character was written in a manner that perfectly suits Irrfan. It was Khamba's passion project. Currently, they are talking to other actors about the role," a source told HuffPost India.
We are waiting to see who will fill in for Irrfan, now that he is officially not a part of this show.
