Superstar Rajinikanth visited Jammu's famous cave shrine Shivkhori on Sunday as part of his 15-day Himalayan pilgrimage tour. Pictures of his visit are going viral and some of them show the actor performing puja at the shrine. "It is a spiritual land and I have come here on spiritual pilgrimage. I am a spiritual person. From here, I am going to Himalayas, Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). I have a lot of plans and I don't want to reveal it now," Rajinikanth told the press in Jammu.
Well, speaking of spirituality, Rajinikanth is in dire need of divine blessings at the moment. Rajini has been in the news lately primarily for three reasons – his plunge into state politics in Tamil Nadu and his upcoming movies Kaala and 2.0. All three ventures of the superstar are surrounded by stumbling blocks in some form of the other and these concerns have raised questions on the future of the ventures.
Directed by S Shankar, 2.0 is a sequel to Rajini’s 2010 blockbuster Enthiran which also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. In November 2016, it was revealed that 2.0 was scheduled for release during Diwali on October 18, 2017. However, in April 2017 the film's release had been postponed to January 25, 2018 due to pending works regarding visual effects. The release date was later moved to April 14, 2018. With post production taking more time than expected, the release date was once again moved to April 27, 2018 which was eventually booked by Kaala. The film is expected to release sometime in 2018 although a definitive date has yet to be given.
Due to the sudden developments in the south film industry, summer releases are set to be affected. Reportedly this will affect the Kaala release as well and its date is said to be shifted. Reportedly, the producers of small budget movies are raising a war over the preference given to high budget movies. With the cinema industry strike on, high budget films, such as Kaala, may have to look for another date.Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush is producing Kaala while Pa Ranjith is directing the film. Kaala, which also stars Huma Qureshi, Eswari Rao, Anjali Patil and Pankaj Tripathi, will see Rajinikanth playing the role of a don. Nana Patekar will be seen as the main antagonist in Kaala.
The superstar’s plight doesn’t end here. Controversies have started floating since the actor announced his political plunge in Tamil Nadu politics. The megastar on Tuesday said that he has still not become a full-time politician. "Still I have not become a full-time politician. I have not announced my party. I don't want to talk anything about politics (now)," he told reporters. Critics were quick to question whether Tamil Nadu should be voting for a ‘part time neta’. His political competitor and actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan on Monday said that Rajini has kept mum on various matters and it was wrong. "This is not the only issue on which Rajanikanth has not expressed his opinion. But there are several other issues also and it is not right to point only to one issue," the Makkal Needhi Maiam founder told reporters.Rajinikanth’s Himalayan pilgrimage comes at a time when the superstar has numerous concerns plaguing his career. But ‘Karikalan’, it seems, can’t handle these alone and divine help is the need of the hour.
