Superstar Sridevi’s untimely demise left Bollywood and her family missing her sorely. But life goes and so does the projects the actress had signed up for. Her shoes are now being filled by none other than her peer Madhuri Dixit. Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor herself shared the news of the actress stepping into her late mother’s shoes.
While Janhvi officially shared the news in excitement, director Karan Johan clarified that the film is not titled ‘Shiddat’ like rumours suggest and took to Twitter to dispel the rumours. The movie being directed by Abhishek Varman was set to be Sridevi’s next. While Johar did not mention the actual title of the film he did say that the final cast will be made public later.
In this project Madhuri has been cast alongside Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Aditya Roy Kapur. If Sridevi would have taken the project then she would mark 25 years since she and Dutt worked together in Gumraah. This film will mark Varman’s second directorial after 2 States. The movie is being produced by Dharma productions, the same house producing Janhvi’s debut film Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khattar.Sridevi’s passed away in Dubai on the night of February 24. Following her death which was due to ‘accidental drowning’ in her hotel bathtub, her family went through a tumultuous time to recover her mortal remains to bring it back to India. She was cremated with state honours in the presence of her family on February 28.
