The day to celebrate womanhood is here. It’s March 8, 2019, which is marked as the International Women’s Day across the globe. We have been coming across innumerable inspiring quotes and clips surfing on social media. Many prominent Bollywood stars like Sonali Bendre, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor and more have already posted their take on this glorious day. And now, call it a little late of sorts, Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan has posted a super long and inspiring message for all the struggling women out there.
In her shared post, we see Mahira as a newly born child and it's her mum who is seen holding her tightly in arms. Well, yes, you might have caught the essence of the post and have understood the fact that for Mahira it's her mom who holds a very special position, but there's more to the image. In the long post, she explains how her mom has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting many joints, including those in the hands and feet) for the last 30 years, but despite the severe disease, she lives her life to the fullest. Mahira writes, "She keeps telling us ‘tender mercies’ is what one must be grateful for. She enjoys her tea and makhan toast like no other." Quite emotional, right?

Here is a picture of my Ama from the day that I was born. She has had rheumatoid arthritis for the last 30 years. She’s been in pain ever since. Despite that, she has worked as a teacher most of her life. Raised me and my brother, while running our home. She has trouble doing normal day to day things now - like walking, taking a bath or even making her own hair. Now here’s the thing - she smiles through it all. She is always grateful. Always thanking God for little things. She keeps telling us ‘tender mercies’ is what one must be grateful for. She enjoys her tea and makhan toast like no other. And even though she can’t dance, she doesn’t miss a chance to groove to the music she loves. Today and every single day I want to be like her. Happy women’s day to all you women, bravely going through life with a smile on your faces! ❤️ P.S I asked her if I could post about her illness and she allowed me to do so. She did not approve of the photo though 🤦🏻♀️ posting anyway :)
Well, Mahira's post does not come as a surprise as she herself is a single mother and can totally relate to what it feels like to be a MOM.
During the recent tension between India and Pakistan, Mahira Khan had lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for his peacemaking revert in the time of mayhem at the borders.
