Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is on a roll and post his on-screen dominance and box-office exploits, he is all set to turn producer for his big bilingual project. While his first venture into digital space got a good response, his next too will be talked about as it has a patriotic touch to it. Telugu actor Adivi Sesh is all set to make his first Hindi film with this collaboration with Mahesh Babu, which will be directed by Sashi Kiran.
Mahesh took to Twitter to share the news about his next venture which is titled Major. It is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who lost his life while fighting terrorists at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai in 2008. Reportedly, Sony Pictures will be in charge of production and distribution in India. Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's production house G Mahesh Babu Entertainment (GMB) has closed a deal to produce Major.
For the uninitiated, Major Sandeep was an army officer serving in the elite Special Action Group of the National Security Guards. He is famously remembered for rooting out Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, who held several people, including foreign nationals, hostage in Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in the terror attack in Mumbai in November 2008. Sandeep was the team commander of the 51 Special Action Group that was deployed during the operation to rescue hostages. He was martyred in action and was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra - India's highest peacetime gallantry award - in 2009.
Director Sashi Kiran is best known for his directorial debut Goodachari, a spy-thriller which released in 2018. The film went on to do good business at the box office and became a critically acclaimed film as well.
