Ace director Mani Ratnam will soon commence his dream project Ponniyin Selvan, the historical novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. There have been many who wanted to film this magnificent story. In fact, Soundarya Rajinikanth is making a web series of Ponniyin Selvan.
Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Vijay Sethupathi were said to be part of the cast. However, Vijay Sethupathi will no longer be a part of this film, as per reliable sources. The reason for his exclusion appears to be his salary. He is demanding 15 crores which apparently the producers Lyca Films are not able to meet with due to budgetary constraints. To play a part in Ponniyin Selvan has been a dream for Vijay Sethupathi right from his younger days. But it looks like finance has played spoilsport in his dream.
The shooting is set to begin in the month of July and it has been communicated to all the actors that they have to allot a straight six months of their time to this film. They have also been asked to grow their hair/moustache/beard or whatever body changes are required by their character and then join the sets.
