The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, came under a fresh controversy when journalist Vinod Dua, comedian Mallika Dua’s father, criticized the main judge, Akshay Kumar, for making an insensitive joke towards Mallika. Vinod has posted on Facebook, “I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that 'Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun'” (You ring the bell, I will ring you)
Sorry to quash your hunger for sensationalism but Facebook and perhaps a copyright claim had it removed. Find something better to do. pic.twitter.com/c9zwEslJgA

Vinod Dua even posted a video on Facebook that had footage of the incident. The video was later removed due to copyright claims. Mallika also posted the clip on Twitter and wrote, "Hey! Quick question. Does anyone find 5:26 funny? Charming? Entertaining? Family entertainment. GEC." The tweet was subsequently deleted by her after she was trolled.
Vinod told the media, "I don't expect an apology from Star Plus as they have not aired this episode. But I expect an apology from this fellow (Akshay)."
The incident took place when a contestant, Shyam Rangeela, mimicked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and garnered praises from all the judges. When all the mentors, Zakir Khan, Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal proceeded to ring the coveted bell as part of appreciating the act, Kumar had made the remark.A source from the channel has said that the clip was part of extra footage that won’t be aired. Needless to say, twitter trolls were a dime a dozen to hit out at Mallika for her post.
