Manikarnika: Uma Bharti urges Yogi Adityanath to make the film tax free in his state
Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi hit the screens on Republic Day weekend and received mixed to positive reviews. The film, despite its slow start at the box-office, saw a steady climb due to positive word-of-mouth and continues to enjoy it's run in theatres. Union Minister Uma Bharti recently saw the Kangana Ranaut co-directed film and seemed to have enjoyed it. So much so that, she's urged the Uttar Pradesh government to declare the film tax-free.
Uma Bharti took to Twitter and shared her views on the period film and in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Minister of Drinking and Sanitation for Government of India has urged that the film be declared tax free in Uttar Pradesh. In the letter, Uma said that watching the film in Jhansi was a very good experience and that the film gives out a strong message on patriotism and women empowerment. The film’s screening was organized by Rajiv Singh Parichha, MLA from the Babeena assembly area of Jhansi on February 3, 2019.
Last week Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri, which went on to become the first film of the year to enter the 100 crore club, was declared tax-free in the state. It will be interesting to see if the Kangana Ranaut starrer too gets the tax free status in Adityanath's land.
