The BJP will soon be contesting the upcoming general elections but this is not what is article is about. Eros Now, the subscription-based over the top streaming service, has announced a web series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The series is set to be out in April, overlapping the general elections of 2019. The series will be titled Modi and will “showcases the eventful life of the inspiring and influential leader”, said the makers in a press release. Modi is being produced by Benchmark Pictures and directed by Umesh Shukla.
Modi, the web series, will star Faisal Khan, Ashish Sharma and Mahesh Thakur as the PM during different stages in his life (age-wise). This 10-part series will cover Modi’s life from the age of 12. Then, it will showcase the start of his political career as he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1987 (after serving in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). Modi then took the mantle of Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. In 2014, he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India. Eros Group Chief Content Officer Ridhima Lulla, in a statement said, “Our attempt through this biopic is to tell the story of his struggle, ambition, intensity and success and how it not only inspires many but is one of the factors of his mass appeal.”
This is not the only cinematic tryst that Modi's life will be seeing. Earlier this year, a biopic was announced regarding Narendra Modi that will star actor Vivek Anand Oberoi by filmmaker Omung Kumar. The supporting cast includes Manoj Joshi as BJP President Amit Shah, Zarina Wahab as Modi’s mother Heeraben, and Barkha Bisht as his estranged wife, Jasodhaben. It also includes Prashant Narayanan as the antagonist. Narayanan plays a “fictional character of the biggest business tycoon of the country called Aditya Reddy.” The film has been co-produced by Suresh Oberoi. The film doesn't have a release date yet.
