Malayalam actress Sanusha said that a man had allegedly touched her inappropriately while travelling on a train. The 23-year-old actress added that she was saddened by the onlookers who ignored her misery. Sanusha was en route to Thiruvananthapuram aboard the Maveli Express when Anto Bose, a native of Kanyakumari, allegedly attempted to molest her.
“At around 1 am when I was asleep I felt something on my lips. When I woke up I saw that man in the opposite berth was feeling my lips. I immediately caught hold of his hand and twisted it. At this time he was begging me to not make this a big issue. I switched on the light immediately,” said Sanusha.
The actress said she cried for help but no one approached her, including some women who were in the compartment. Later, two people came up to help her out. "Only two passengers, writer Unni and one Ranjith came to my help. There were many people, including women in the compartment, but no one came forward to help. I was screaming… It's sad how the others behaved,” said Sanusha.
The railway police at Thrissur have reportedly arrested Anto Bose for outraging the modesty of a woman under section 354 of the IPC.
Sanusha said that she wants other women to take her example and fight back in such situations. "I want to reveal myself and speak up because I want this to be an encouragement to other women to act when they are in such situations," the actress said.
