28 years after Shiva released in 1989, Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna and filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma are all set to collaborate again. The news broke after Nagarjuna took to his Twitter account to share stills from the upcoming untitled cop movie. Principal photography of the crime-thriller commenced on 20th November at the Anapurna Studios. Nagarjuna is looking angry and badass with guns, money, and chains.
Nagarjuna went on to recall his experience when he had signed Shiva 28 years ago. Several people had doubted him, however, he proved them wrong as Shiva went on to be a blockbuster receiving applauses, both from the critics and the audience.
Earlier when the movie was announced, Ram Gopal Varma wrote on Facebook, "I am extremely excited that I am doing a film with Nagarjuna after nearly 25 years but contrary to some uninformed media speculations, this new film is nothing to with SHIVA, neither in character nor in story content. It's a very different but an extremely realistic action film set against a story such as neither me nor Nagarjuna has ever done before. I just hope I will once again live up to his expectations which he had of me the first time he gave me a break."
RGV's last directorial venture Sarkar 3, which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles, tanked at the box-office and failed to leave a mark. Varma told Indian Express that he usually tends to "over promise and under deliver".
The movie will be produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Sudheer Chandra under the R-Company banner. Reportedly, the makers are in talks with Anushka Shetty to play the female lead in the film.
