Marvel’s Thor: Ragnorak which hit screen today has already got our attention with its power packed trailer. While there are very few of us still debating if we should go for the movie, there seems to have emerged a mash up of the movie’s trailer that is grabbing eyeballs on YouTube. For the Thor lovers amidst us, this mash-up trailer leaves us open mouthed as it does a verbatim sync of Thor’s trailer by featuring not Thor but Dreamwork’s Shrek.
The parody created by Darth Blender, a Brazil based YouTube channel, has got us hooked on to the meticulous detail of the two and a half minute trailer. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is played by Arthur the prince from Shrek, and Shrek, true to his skin colour replaces Hulk in the trailer. Even Tom Hiddleston’s Loki makes an appearance as none other than Donkey, though for a very small time. And the spectacular villain played by Cate Blanchette has been replaced by the evil fairy godmother from Shrek with her not so evil looks. Never the less, the roles match and the replacements play out in spectacular perfection. The trailer which makes use of snippets from Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007) and Shrek Forever After (2010) plays to the beats from Thor trailer starting at ‘I lost my hammer’ and ending at Thor and Hulk arguing about fire and water. While seeing Shrek play Hulk is the easiest similarity you can draw, it would have been fun to see Shrek play Thor for real in the mash up. For comic book lovers, this parody trailer is a sure feast for your eyes. Read More
