Padman trailer: Akshay Kumar nails it as a sanitary superhero
The much awaited Akshay Kumar starrer Padman trailer is out and indeed he is ‘pagla superhero’. After teasing us with posters, the film looks promising with a social awakening through the tool of humour and innocence.
The trailer begins with a narration from Amitabh Bachchan who calls PadMan India’s answer to the superheroes of US. Akshay has the idea to make sanitary napkins for women and is even shown trying some on in a pink underwear himself. He pitches the idea to his sisters and his wife, who all feel ashamed to even discuss the sanitary health with their brother and husband respectively. After being shunned by his village including his wife, he becomes a social worker.
The film is based on the national hero, Arunachalam Muruganantham; the inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas. Padman also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead and is directed by R Balki. The film is produced by Twinkle Khanna’s Mrs Funnybones Productions and the project is close to her heart since she wrote about women’s sanitary health and the taboos around it in a column two year ago.
The film is slated to release on the Republic Day and will clash with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Aiyaary at the box office.Read More
