India and Pakistan have never been great friends. Over the last few years, the relationship has grown more strained than before and the recent terror attack could ensure it sours beyond repair. Post the Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, which saw 40 CRPF jawan die in an explosion, tensions have only intensified. Post the attack, India has openly held the neighbouring country responsible for one of the deadliest attacks on Indian soil and adding fuel to the fire was Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement on Tuesday where he urged the Indian government to submit proof of Pakistan’s involvement. The statement naturally didn’t go down well with Indians and veteran Bollywood lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar has severely slammed Imran Khan over his comments.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the 74-year-old Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee was in no mood to spare the cricketer turned politician and said that the Pakistani Prime Minister has bowled a no ball on the topic, indicating that his words don't do much to ease the geo-political situation. A day after the attack, Javed along with his wife actor Shabana Azmi called off their Pakistan tour in protest of the terrorist strike.
Addressing media, Imran Khan urged the Indian authorities to submit evidence to them and that stern action will be taken against the guilty. "Pakistan is moving towards stability. Why would we do something like this? If you have any actionable intelligence that a Pakistani is involved, give it to us. I guarantee you, we will take action, not because we are under pressure, but because they are acting as enemies of Pakistan."
"India accused Pakistan without any evidence and without thinking how this (attack) would benefit us. Would even a fool try to sabotage such an important visit as that of the Saudi crown prince?" he added.
