In the world of fashion, some dresses get immortalized while others are forgotten faster than the flash of a camera. A celebrity wearing your dress down a red carpet is a surer way of ending up in fashion’s hall of fame but this is a place earned by few, especially in India. For one lucky pair, celebrated designers Falguni and Shane Peacock, it was a golden day when Beyonce herself donned their creation at the Wearable Arts Gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Queen B wore the designer duo’s avant-garde golden dress for the gala organized by her mother. The dress solemnized Beyonce’s place as the ultimate fashion queen with its gold embellishments and a massive gold train. It was reported that the wide girth of the dress required the singer to have and assistant on standby to carry it when she moved around. The dress which took 10 days to create was done in close collaboration with Beyonce’s stylist. Inspired by Nubian princesses, the dress added to the singer’s magnanimity and her staple fashion spectacle.

The designers worked closely with Beyoncé’s personal stylist Marni Senafonte to create the gilded look.
While Beyonce wearing an Indian creation is a proud moment for us, funnily enough the gala was themed ‘From WACO to Wakanda’ based on the latest box office hit Black Panther. This means an African creation would have been a more fitting answer to the evening. Nevertheless Beyonce’s search for something exotic created an iconic moment for Indian fashion. The designers had previously been international worn by names like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton but Queen B is sure to be the ultimate cherry for their atelier.
The singer was accompanied by her first born Blue Ivy who made an equally strong fashion statement with her matching golden ruffle dress and gold pleat wig. Fashion sure runs strong in her blood and her ensemble last night was proof of it.
