We have been reporting regularly about the box-office exploits of 2.0 which has now started the 3rd week of its theatrical run. The film is said to have crossed the 100 CR gross mark in Tamil Nadu with a theatrical share of 60 CR. 2.0 is now the fifth film with a theatrical share of 60 CR+ in TN after Enthiran, Baahubali 2, Mersal and Sarkar. Whether it can cross the lifetime TN gross of Sarkar and Mersal remains to be seen; Baahubali 2 will surely remain unconquered.
It has also crossed the 20 CR gross mark in Chennai city. 2.0 is expected to brave the slew of Christmas releases and hang on in Chennai theatres at least till Pongal. Coming to one more interesting box-office trivia about 2.0, it joins Baahubali 2 as the only two Indian films to gross more than 100 Cr (worldwide total) each in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi). This spectacular feat just goes to show the pan-Indian / international appeal of both these legendary films.
2.0 is also the highest grossing Indian film of the year, crossing the worldwide gross of the Ranbir Kapoor blockbuster Sanju. Meanwhile, the Malaysia distributors of 2.0 have announced that it is the highest grossing Tamil film in the country. Bravo!
