Right from the time of its release, 90 ML has been controversy’s child, gaining a lot of wrong remarks and responses despite some favorable reviews which have supported the feministic value of the film and the theme that it wishes to put across. And now, more trouble has come in the form of a petition from the Indian National League Party’s State Women’s wing chief Aarifa, who has complained against the cast of the film and the director, asking for their arrest to take place apart from a ban on the film. The complaint was filed at the Commissioner Office in Chennai. The officials are now reviewing the petition, with the FIR yet to be filed.
Through her complaint, Aarifa has stated that the film is a disgrace to Tamil culture, and also instigates rape in the society. The letter also had statements on how the film encourages young women to take up smoking, drinking, swearing and other activities that would be against the culture that has been imbibed into them.
90 ML, after enjoying a very good opening, is turning out to be an average fare at the box office. Directed by Anita Udeep (who has represented herself as Azhagiya Asura), the film stars Oviya, Monisha Ram, Masoom Shankar, Anson Paul and others. The film was certified ‘A’ before its release.Read More
