The failure of the NTR biopic (Kathanayakudu and Mahanayakudu) has shocked the entire team and the industry on the whole. The two parts of the film, which were rolled out at a budget of 55 crores, failed to garner even half of the investment, totally crashing at the box office. While many reasons have been discussed for the rejection of the film by the audiences, Balakrishna himself is deeply disturbed by the film’s performance, as he set it up as a perfect tribute to his father and legendary actor-politician NTR. Though the actor was appreciated by critics for his performance in the Krish directorial, it could not translate into the audience coming to theatres to see the films.
From sources close to the actor, we hear that Balakrishna has now decided to meet the presidents of his fan clubs from all around the Telugu states, trying to discuss the reasons behind the historic flop of the film. Close associates of Balakrishna have advised him to meet his fans and talk about what went wrong, what better could have been done, and also take their honest opinion.
The actor will be taking a much-needed break from his film-related commitments, before starting work on his next project with Boyapati Srinu. This will be his third union with the director after their previous combinations in Simha and Legend.
