Actor Silambarasan's brother is Kuralarasan, who appeared in brief roles in films such as Sonnalthaan Kaadhala, directed by T Rajendar and Alai that had STR and Trisha playing the leads. He then made a mark in Kollywood as a music director through Idhu Namma Aalu, directed by Pandiraj. However, post that film, Kuralarasan was never seen as a composer and kept a low profile. He had his own personal space to explore and re-discover his life and now it looks like, he has come to an understanding about it.
After a long gap, Kuralarasan made the headlines this morning as he converted to the religion of Islam. The proceedings happened at a mosque in Anna Salai, Mount Road, in the presence of the composer's father, the multi-faceted T Rajendar and mother Usha. A video showcasing Kuralarasan attending the ritual function has gone viral on social media. Kural is expected to change his name, according to the reports.
Talking about his son's decision, T Rajendar said, "Since childhood, Kuralarasan always had an admiration for the Islam religion. He told me about his decision and I completely agreed to it. I am not a casteist and I support all castes and religion. Even my film production logo has the culmination of images representing a mosque, Velankanni Church and a Murugan temple."
