Nayanthara’s Airaa which is gearing up for a release on the 28th of March is looked at as a pulpy thriller that could be the perfect start to the summer season. The film features the actress in a dual role for the first time in her career, and she is said to have portrayed both the roles with great conviction. Airaa is written by Priyanka Ravindran and is directed by Sarjun, who is known for his controversial short films such as Lakshmi and Maa.
When we got in touch with Sarjun, he was in all praise for Nayanthara and her work in the film. “The two characters in Bhavani and Yamuna are in stark contrast to each other in life. And this contrast is fantastically portrayed by Nayanthara mam. In fact, you will start believing that they are done by two different actors and will forget the fact that it is a dual role,” said the director. “We’ve heard about actors giving life to a character in many films, but if that character can actually break the fourth wall and talk to the audience, make them feel for her and cry for her, that’s something really special. Phenomenal is the word for Nayanthara mam, who has done full justice to her roles in Airaa,” he added.
Airaa is produced by KJR Studios, the banner who distributed Thala Ajith’s Viswasam all-round Tamil Nadu. The makers of the film have put up huge billboards at important locations in Chennai to create the buzz for the film, with just a little over two weeks left for the release.
