Mollywood actress Bhavana entered wedlock with Kannada producer Naveen earlier this year, following which she became even more selective with her film choices. The actress even took an oath that she would not be doing any more remakes in her career, but turned around her decision after she was blown away by Prem Kumar’s recent Tamil blockbuster 96 which starred Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. In.com can now reveal that Bhavana will be playing the role of Jaanu, which was essayed to perfection by Trisha in the film. Preetham Gubbi will be directing the remake, which will have popular Kannada actor Ganesh in the lead role.
96 was one of the biggest success stories of 2018, reaping huge profits with its 50-crore gross value at the box office worldwide. The film not only made Tamil audiences fall in love with it but also struck gold with a terrific run in Kerala as well. In fact, the demand for Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Seethakathi shot up after 96’s run in Kerala, with the film set to have a simultaneous release in the state along with its worldwide Tamil release on the 20th
of December. 2019 will also see a Telugu remake of 96. This one will be bankrolled by popular producer Dil Raju, who is currently working on the casting process of the film. So what are you waiting for, let the comparisons begin? Remakes are tricky business and with 96 already being such a huge hit, will Bhavna be able to leave her mark on a character that was played to perfection by Trisha not so long ago. Time will tell.
