Ranjit Bawa, who has been one of the most non-controversial stars in the Punjabi industry was unfortunately dragged into an uncalled for controversy recently. It was because of his song Badamiye Rangiye. The song released a couple of days back and was penned by Bittu Cheema, sung and composed by Ranjit Bawa and the music has been given by Nick Dhammu. But apparently, singer Garrie Dhaliwal accused the team of using up a song for which he has the copyright. Garrie went online, posted a video, accused the whole team and also pleaded Ranjit Bawa to not indulge in such a practice atleast against a struggling singer. While Ranjit Bawa doesn't really comment on anything that's controversial, Bittu Cheema, the lyricist of the song shared his side of the story.
While clarifying some facts, Bittu said, "The song was written by me a long ago. It was the year 2014 near Vaisakhi when the song was ready. Sadly, in good faith, I recited the lyrics to a few singers and because of the catchy hook line, my song was misused. But in the year 2015 when I narrated the song to Ranjit Bawa, he was immediately keen on working on the track. He paid me my amount and the team paid Nick Dhammu too. I got the copyright of the song the same year. But when I saw that so many other writers had already started using my hook line and even posted it on social media as their status updates, I got disappointed and left the song. I had no intentions of doing it again until Ranjit Bawa told me to work over it. We had put in money already and we didn’t want the money to go in vain. Hence, we made the song and released it."

"The hook line of the song was used by Gurwinder Bal in the track that was sung by Garrie Dhaliwal. The same hook line is being used by other singers too. But everyone knows who is the original writer of the track," added Cheema.
"Garrie Dhaliwal is trying to build controversy just to garner attention. Why didn’t he voice up his concern when other struggling singers used the same hook line? It is a very shallow act to drag a singer like Ranjit in the whole scene. One must think before they actually point fingers. Ranjit, who has always been away from controversies, is being dragged into one because he doesn’t want to get in the muck and give the singer attention. This track belongs to us and we have proofs to justify it," he concluded.
Well, this seems to be another revelation in the controversy.
