K-13 will be actor Arulnithi's next outing in Tamil cinema after the notable crime thriller, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal. This film has 'Yaanji' girl Shraddha Srinath as the female lead with newbie director Barath Neelakantan at the helm. The posters and the promo videos of the film left the audience intrigued, letting them know what kind of a film K-13 would be. The shooting of the film is completely wrapped and the makers are now focussing on the post-production works. Music Director Darbuka Siva was initially signed and announced as the composer of the film, but, the makers have now gone for a change.
Darbuka has been replaced by young music talent, Sam CS, who rose to fame with the blockbuster film, Vikram Vedha. The musical score and re-recording in the Pushkar - Gayathri directorial was a major pillar of strength that elevated the screen presence of Vijay Sethupathi to a whole new level. Since the film's release, there has been no looking back for Sam CS, who went onto be a part of films like Diya, Adangamaru, NOTA, Mr Chandramouli, etc. He will compose the music for K-13 and the announcement was made this morning by the production team, SP Cinemas. Sam has already worked with Arulnithi in Iravukku Aayiram and this film will mark their second collaboration.
Darbuka is known for delivering chartbuster numbers in Gautham Menon's Enai Noki Paayum Thota, including 'Maruvaarthai Pesathey', 'Naan Pizhaipeno', and 'Visiri'. His identity was kept secretive as Mr X and that indeed became an interesting promotional strategy for the film. When Mr X was revealed to be Darbuka Siva, the Kidaari composer was flooded with wishes on social media and got a huge fan following. He is also making his debut as a director and this could probably be one of the reasons why he couldn't do K-13, though there is no clarity on the reason behind the replacement.
