Santhanam’s Dhilluku Dhuddu dominated the Chennai city weekend box office. As we had reported earlier, the film’s collections saw a rapidly increasing trend over its opening 4 days, and the total 4 days Chennai gross of the film is a very good Rs 1.93 crore. The film is well on its way to become a superhit, if not more. Alita followed DD 2 in a distant second place, grossing Rs 45 lakhs in Chennai in its opening weekend.
The Pongal blockbusters, Viswasam and Petta followed in the 3rd and 4th spots still attracting a lot of audience attention. The 32 days total Chennai gross of Viswasam is Rs 12.96 crore, while Petta has grossed Rs 15.41 crore so far. The Bollywood sensation Uri: The Surgical Strike occupies the 5th spot, grossing Rs 1.11 crore in Chennai after 31 days; a fantastic achievement considering the immense competition and the limited shows that it has.
Last week’s releases Vandha Rajavadhan Varuven, Peranbu and Sarvam Thaala Mayam have been pushed out of the Top 5. The total 10 days Chennai gross of the three films is Rs 1.86 crore, Rs 43 lakhs and Rs 93 lakhs respectively. The other language new releases, ‘9’ and Yatra grossed Rs 11 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs respectively in their opening weekend in Chennai.
