The Karthi - Rakul Preet Singh starrer Dev is just a few hours away from its grand worldwide release tomorrow as a Valentine's Day special. The film is said to be a romantic action entertainer shot on a grand scale by debut director Rajath Ravishankar. Due to Karthi and Rakul’s popularity all over the South, Dev will be released in both Tamil and Telugu in the 5 South states.
Murali Cine Arts have grabbed the TN theatrical rights of Dev for a reported sum of 17 crore. After releasing films in individual territories, this is the first time that they will be releasing a film all over the state. Dev needs to gross about 30 crore in the state to emerge a Hit. It must be noted that Karthi is coming back after the massive blockbuster Kadai Kutty Singam, which grossed more than 50 crore in TN last year.
Dev’s Telugu states theatrical rights are worth close to 6 crore. Karthi’s films generally do decent business in Tollywood, and the same is expected of Dev as well. In Karnataka, both the Tamil and Telugu versions will be released, and the breakeven share there is 81 lakhs.
The film’s satellite rights have been grabbed by market leaders Sun TV. We wish the team a successful run in theaters.
