Lmk February 25 2019, 7.07 pmRJ Balaji couldn’t have dreamt of a better debut as a lead hero. His LKG has done fantastic in its opening weekend, behind only Viswasam and Petta in the state among all the films released this year. To have opened better than big hero films like Vandha Rajavadhan Varuven and Dev speaks volumes of LKG’s acceptance among the masses. Balaji is now spending time with his family and has completely switched off, after slogging really hard for LKG over the past year or so.
LKG has grossed 8.95 crore in Tamil Nadu after its opening 3 days with the day wise breakup being 2.6, 3.1 and 3.25 crore each. The film is doing its best in the so called 3 Cs of the Tamil Nadu box office, namely Chennai city, Chengalpet and Coimbatore. The 3-days gross in these individual territories is as follows:
Chengalpet - 2.95 crore
Coimbatore - 1.48 crore
Chennai city - 1.38 crore
Almost 65% of the film’s total gross has come from these three territories, as we can see. The Tamil Nadu distributors of the film, Sakthi Film Factory, have already covered their investment on the film.
LKG has also done fairly well in the USA, grossing in excess of 60K $ (42.6 lakhs) after its opening weekend. Lot more to come from this cracking political satire.
