Sivakarthikeyan is busy wrapping the shooting work of his next release Mr. Local which will mostly hit theatres in April, as a summer treat. Popular distributors Sakthi Film Factory (SFF) will be releasing the film in the state. M.Rajesh is directing this comedy entertainer which also has Nayanthara, Sathish, Radhika, Thambi Ramaiah and many others in the cast list. We hear that the TN theatrical rights of Mr. Local were grabbed for Rs 31 crore by SFF from producers Studio Green.
We can expect SFF to sell the individual territory rights to other prominent distributors as the film's release date nears, or they may even release the film on their own in the entire state like how they did the blockbuster Kadai Kutty Singam last year. Rs 31 crore is a solid rate and proves Sivakarthikeyan’s audience pull and market value in the state. Though his last release Seemaraja was a box office failure due to its disappointing content, it still grossed Rs 49 crore in TN and Rs 67 crore worldwide largely due to Siva’s star power.
He is expected to be in his elements in Mr.Local, in which the presence of Lady Superstar Nayanthara is another USP. Mr. Local is one of the many big films in what is expected to be a packed summer for Kollywood.
