With the impending Lok Sabha elections, looks like Kollywood is also toeing the line. Don’t get us wrong! We are talking about the various politics centric films which are in various stages of production. To start of with, directed by KR Prabhu and written (and starring) by RJ Balaji, LKG (Lalgudi Karuppiah Gandhi) clearly talks about politics. The trailer that was released trolls most of the events and personalities in the country from Narendra Modi to Kamal Haasan. The film also stars JK Rithesh and Nanjil Sampath.
Maanadu is a flick that Venkat Prabhu and Simbu are collaborating in which they are going to speak politics out and out. The film went on floors in July last year and would soon hit the screens.
Suriya-Selvaraghavanstarrer NGK (Nanda Gopalan Kumaran), after a lengthy production phase, is finally said to move towards the finish line with Suriya having completed his dubbing for the film. The poster of the film which showed Suriya to be a part of Kaakum Munnetra Kazhagam has let the imagination of the viewers to soar. He plays a politician in the film.
Being directed by debutant Delhi Prasad, Thuglaq alias Thuglaq Darbar features Vijay Sethupathi and the director has mentioned that it is a political film. Sethupathi is also seen these days giving statements on political issues, one of them being Sabarimala temple issue. The film is in a very nascent stage but one can expect it to be completed soon.
Shankar’s Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan will surely be about politics going by the 1st version of the film. With Kamal in politics now, one can expect a lot of politically charged dialogues but since it is Shankar’s film, Kamal may play it a little low.
The unit of KV Anand’s Kaappaan starring Suriya, Mohanlal, Arya and others had released a poster on the New Year. Mohanlal is doing the role of a politician in this film which is produced by Lyca Productions. This film is also a politically charged film.
