Is Arya’s Teddy a remake of the Hollywood comedy Ted?

One of the most interesting announcements in recent times has come from the production house Studio Green, regarding their upcoming project Teddy which will go on floors very soon. Directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan of Miruthan and Tik Tik Tik fame, the film will star Arya in the lead role. This happens to be Arya’s third project with Studio Green for what seemingly is a three-film-deal that also had Ghajinikanth and Mahamuni linked to it. When the word on the project came up, netizens quickly started connecting it to the Hollywood comedy Ted, which had Mark Wahlberg in the lead role.

However, when we contacted sources close to the director, they were quick to reject the fact that it is a remake of Ted. “Teddy is in no way connected to Ted. Our film will be a kid-friendly entertainer that can be watched with the entire family,” said the source. Principal shoot for the film will kick off in May, as the team plans to can some important portions in Europe apart from the Chennai schedules.

After the completion of Tik Tik Tik, the director had plans to start off with another sci-fi entertainer but has changed routes after the idea of Teddy popped up. The pre-production work is currently underway, with the rest of the cast and crew being finalized.

Newlyweds Arya and Sayyeshaa, who got married on Sunday, organized a small birthday treat for Shakti at the back end of their wedding. Arya will be getting back to Chennai soon in order to finish off his portions for his next film in Mahamuni. Directed by Santhakumar of Mounaguru fame, it has Indhuja and Mahima Nambiar playing the heroines.
