Upcoming mega-budget action drama KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) is Kannada cinema’s most prestigious project till date, with some kind of buzz hitting the deck every day as we get close to the release on the 21st of December. The film will hit the screens across the nation in all the five main Indian languages.
But one thing that not many know, is the story of how KGF’s Telugu business began from Baahubali director SS Rajamouli’s recommendation. During the discussion stages of his ongoing biggie RRR, Rajamouli stayed in the same hotel where the team of KGF were camping. Along with the hero Yash, the team showed him the visuals of the film. Rajamouli said that he was blown away by what he had seen, and immediately called up Anil Thandani, Shobu Yarlagadda and Sai Korrapati to speak about how they could bring the film to Telugu audiences.
“Every film with a big budget will not qualify for a pan-Indian release. A film has to appeal to fans beyond language barriers and regional hurdles. I felt KGF had that quality. Every visual that I saw in the video was original and fabulous,” said the maverick director.
KGF directed by Prashanth Neel is the first of the two-part series that focusses on how a man’s willpower and strength helps all the workers of the Kolar Gold Fields escape the negative-minded. The makers have been promoting the film far and wide all across the country, attending press meets and special events at many cities and states.
