Telugu cinema is going gaga about biopics, but 2019 seems to be a year where two filmmakers have decided to unleash a biopic on the same character, in two different dimensions. Director Krish’s NTR: Kathanayakudu which hit the screens in January had a rather safe portrayal of the actor-politician and his road to becoming an actor. The second part of the drama titled NTR: Mahanayakudu, will release on the 22nd of February. However, most sections of the audience don’t seem to care about it, as they are more inclined to Ram Gopal Varma’s version of the story, which will arrive through his film Lakshmi’s NTR.
The trailer of the film which was released on Thursday has stirred up big debates on social media, becoming the talk of the town in the Telugu states. The two-minute long trailer is a minimized version of the film on the whole and takes up a lot of controversial shots openly. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is clearly portrayed in black shades here, apart from the all-important chapter between NTR and his young wife Lakshmi. The film seems to be narrated from the perspective of Lakshmi, who had first approached NTR to write a biography on his life, only to end up marrying him.
The trailer establishes other sharp shots and dialogues. Scenes where slippers are hurled at NTR feature here, while Chandrababu Naidu is portrayed as a character who first bows down to NTR but later betrays him. Such visuals have become a rage amongst the netizens, who have gone berserk with their comments on social media.
All eyes are on Ram Gopal Varma, who will be announcing the release date of the film very soon.
