The RJ Balaji - Priya Anand starrer LKG is going from strength to strength at the box office. After a good opening on Friday, the film improved further on Saturday. From a gross of 32 lakhs on Friday in Chennai city, the film jumped to a huge 51 lakhs on Saturday. A good leap is expected to be there on Sunday too. These are numbers which are generally seen for established Tier-2 heroes! On the other hand, the Udhay - Tamannaah starrer Kanne Kalaimaane dropped from already low opening levels. The film could gross just 14 lakhs on Saturday after 17 lakhs on Friday. LKG is in a one horse race at the TN box office this weekend.
LKG also marks the maiden commercial success for the film’s talented young composer Leon James. He is someone who has been churning out hit songs in all his films so far, such as Kavalai Vendam, Ko 2, Veera and Silukkuvarpatti Singam. All these films, unfortunately, tanked at the box office and Leon’s work wasn’t getting its due.
His work in LKG is neat, and the film has also achieved commercial success now thereby giving his work the platform that it deserves. Leon’s career prospects are sure to see an uptick after a box office hit such as this.
