This talented actress has reportedly made serious allegations against some actors and technicians in the Malayalam film industry. According to the reports, it is said that Kani quit acting (keeping away from films for a few months) due to the sexual advances that came her way from various filmmakers. The reports also state, "She was even approached through her mother to convince her to accept their demands." Due to this, Kani is said to have gone back to the theatre circle but that didn't completely help her livelihood. However, Kani is hopeful about a change or a progressive development, with the #MeToo movement gaining traction among the public and the industry.
The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) organisation, was launched in Malayalam cinema to protect and safeguard the women of the industry from sexual predators. Things like these are said to have given a positive ray of hope for Kani Kusruti's dreams of returning to movies.
