Nayana Suryan, an associate director who worked with the late director Lenin Rajendran, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her Thiruvananthapuram residence on Sunday, the 24th of February. She was 28, hailed from Kollam and was unmarried. Nayana was associated with Lenin Rajendran for a very long time and she had also worked in the capacity of his secretary. It was said that ever since his demise last month, Nayana was not in her elements and was found to be very depressed.
Nayana Surya began her career in 2011, with the Lenin Rajendran directorial Makaramanju. This project had cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and actresses Karthika Nair and Nithya Menen. Nayana had also worked with Kamal in Utopiayile Rajavu which featured Mammootty and with Biju in Akashathinte Niram. She has directed various ad films and stage shows. Her first independent directorial was Pakshikalude Manam, a part of an anthology movie named Crossroad. This film featured Mythili and Vijay Babu in the lead roles and it emerged as a critical success. Our sources said, “Nayana was very upset about Lenin’s sir’s demise and was even under a cloud of depression.”
On finding Nayana's body, police sent it for post-mortem. Later, the body was kept at Maanaviyam Street in Thiruvananthapuram, for the public to pay homage to the departed soul. Subsequently, her body was taken to her hometown to proceed with the funeral formalities. Police have registered a case and are investigating to identify the reason behind Nayana's death.
