Making the already big project even bigger, Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has now joined the cast of Mohanlal’s upcoming big-budget period spectacle Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. The actor will be making his straight Malayalam debut with this biggie which also stars a host of other actors such as Suniel Shetty, Arjun, Ashok Selvan, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh and others.
Thanks to his appearances in films like SS Rajamouli’s Eega and Baahubali, Sudeep is a known face amongst the Malayalam audiences, who will see him mouthing lines in their own language for the first time, through this film. The actor has already started shooting for his portions at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where a majority of the film is being shot.
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, the fourth and the last of the naval chiefs who fought a war against the Portuguese. Priyadarshan, after making a slew of low budget films, has changed paths to direct this massive action adventure that features lavish sets, high production values and a strong technical team consisting of names such as Tirru and Sabu Cyril. The director plans to wrap up the shoot by the end of August this year, after which he will be fully concentrating on the laborious VFX process of the film, something he wishes to fine-tune to the fullest.
