Mass heroes in South Indian cinema are constantly linked to politics, due to their larger than life on screen image and huge fan base. A few like Ajith have safely distanced themselves from politics while others like Vijay aren’t ruling out a possible political entry in future. Mahesh Babu is the latest who is in the political buzz, thanks to his proximity to the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and its leader, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. There are some rumours that he would campaign for the TDP in the coming elections. Mahesh’s wife Namrata denied all such rumours when speaking to a national daily recently.
“My husband respects what Naidu has done for the state, but the progress of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is a matter of great pride for him. Just because he is seen with Naidu, it doesn’t make him a political figure. Mahesh is not campaigning for any political party nor does he intend to contest elections or pursue any kind of political ambitions. He barely says a few words to me, where will he make big speeches on public platforms? Mahesh has no time to do anything apart from shooting for his films. And any free time he has is family time. He doesn’t even step out to meet friends. He is happy to be loved as an actor and the closest he will come to politics is playing a politician on screen. Beyond that, he has no political ambitions or affiliations at all. He is the most apolitical person I know," she said.
That’s a super-clear revert from Mrs Mahesh Babu!
