As a part of the promotional tour in Dubai, a country where Malayalam cinema receives a fantastic reception, Odiyan director VA Shrikumar met the press and media for an interaction. Comparing the film to the Baahubali series, the director said that his film would put Malayalam cinema on the world map, attaining international acclaim.
“People usually say that Malayalam cinema has a shortage of money, but that’s not the actual story. Here, we lack confidence. When we can bring out the best films in India at a budget of 3 crores, we can go real big. I hope Odiyan can be a starting point for other filmmakers to roll out films on a bigger canvas. With our amazing artists and technicians, it is definitely possible,” he said. Shrikumar also threw light on Mohanlal’s terrific performance in the film, living the character of Odiyan for close to 150 days. “I can assure that the audiences will fetch a glimpse of the charming Mohanlal they had enjoyed in Thalavottam and Kilukkam,” he added.

Based on the Odiyan community from Kerala’s folklore, the film is a fantasy thriller that will focus on the life of the lead character over a period of 50 years. It will release in 37 countries all over the world, on the 14
th of December.
