Despite its mixed reviews from the critics and the audience,
Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar, directed by A R Murugadoss was a massive
blockbuster at the box office. Following the success of Sarkar, Sun
Pictures released their next film, Petta, starring superstar
Rajinikanth, alongside Thala Ajith's Viswasam.
Petta and Viswasam released on the same day for the Pongal weekend on
January 10. Both the films satisfied its target audience, with Petta
for Thalaivar fans and Viswasam for Thala fans and the family
audience. Sun Pictures and KJR Studios (distributor of Viswasam) had
an ugly tug of war on social media about the box office collections
and its authenticity which happened to be the talk of the town during
Both the films had a grand release in France and the distributor of
both the films has now revealed some statistical report on their box
office performances. Petta has sold 18,000 tickets while the Ajith
starrer has secured nearly 14K entries. On another side, Thalapathy
Vijay's Sarkar holds a mammoth amount of 25.5K (25,500) entries in France, leading the box office in style. Vijay seems to be the undisputed king of the box office, given the current scenario, as Rajinikanth's recent political speeches and announcements seem to receive a backlash from a certain section of people. Going by this revelation made by the France Distributor, Petta holds next to Sarkar with 18K entries, while Viswasam stands next with
close to 14K entries. Petta and Viswasam were expected to cross
Sarkars' numbers in France, however, looks like that has not happened.
In that case, can we expect Thalapathy 63 to overtake Sarkar's record
at the France box office?
This news has also made Vijay fans happy who are sharing their joy and
happiness on social media through their posts and creatively designed
