The Pollachi sexual abuse case is a heated topic in Tamil Nadu right now, with major attention from all quarters of the Indian media being driven towards it. Several truths have been uncovered over the past 2 days, with the case now being transferred to the CB-CID. After the highly shocking and scary video of a girl being abused first made it to the internet, people have called out for the arrest of the four accused men involved. Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan has taken a lot of steps towards the case, starting with filing a complaint at the DGP’s office in Chennai. Kamal met officer DK Rajendran, and signed his complaint, urging the forces to take necessary action.
Talking to reports right after the filing, Kamal said, “What has happened in Pollachi is unforgivable. People have expressed their anger, and the same has been conveyed to the DGP. The police have replied saying that necessary action will be taken soon. During the meeting, details on my election campaign too have been passed over.” Kamal’s party members, including Sripriya and lyricist Snehan, have staged a protest for Pollachi, with close to 300 participants taking part.
It is indeed a good move to see Kamal Haasan’s party taking charge and acting to the situation. When all of the victims are afraid to come out in the open because of alleged political involvement on the victim’s side, such action from a well-known personality will definitely help create a conducive environment for the truth to be told.
