RJ Balaji started off his career in the media space as an RJ and then went on to attain immense popularity as a reviewer who tore apart every film, come what may. His brutal and extremely entertaining style of reviewing didn’t go well with the industry and he had to face the ire of a lot of senior industry personnel. Balaji eventually stopped this review show (though he continues to be an RJ), and then entered the industry as an actor. He is now a well-established comedian and is taking baby steps as a lead actor with the political satire LKG, set for release on February 22nd. In a recent interview to a national daily, Balaji says that he is ready to face all manner of criticism and reviews for LKG, and is already preparing himself to take all reviews sportingly.
He said, “Industry people would challenge me at that time, saying, ‘Since you are criticising so much, why don’t you make a film?’ Now, I’ve done that. I urge audiences to troll my film as much as possible and say whatever they want about it. I strongly believe in people’s right to criticise any product that is out in the public domain. So, I request everyone to see my film, and rip it apart if they feel so, because this is a product on which they would spend their money. Also, I don’t want people to criticise me only in a constructive way. Everyone has their own style and tone, so they can criticise in whatever manner they want to. So, all the best to me for taking their criticisms in the right spirit. And good luck to everyone for making fun of my film.”
Refreshing candour indeed!
