RJ Balaji’s maiden hero vehicle LKG is just a couple of days away from its grand release on Feb 22. The hype for the film is such that leading theatres in Chennai such as Rohini, GK and Kasi are planning early morning shows (usually reserved for big hero films and ones with an evident craze) coming Friday. Rohini has in fact started the bookings for the 5am show and tickets are getting sold out briskly. We had a quick word with RJ Balaji on how it feels to have an early morning show for his first film as a hero.
“When I first came to know of this news, I myself was curious and surprised. I was wondering whether the show was due to a request from the producer / distributor side. As we know, such early shows are reserved only for the big ticket films. I then checked out with the theatre management directly, and they clearly told me that the show was allotted due to the craze for the film and not as a favour to anyone. They were impressed with the way I’ve been promoting the film and said that the audiences are really excited to see the film. I then felt happy that I was a ‘merit student’ and not a ‘recommendation student’. I consider it God’s blessing too. All that I’ve planned for the film and its promotional leg have worked out well,” said RJ Balaji.
News of this 5am show has been received with its share of controversy too. Vishnu Vishal made a sly tweet about it, without mentioning LKG’s name, and RJ Balaji reverted quickly and sharply.
Let's see if the film does well at the box-office.
