RJ Balaji’s maiden hero vehicle LKG is off to a fantastic start at the TN box office. Sources close to Sakthi Film Factory, the TN distributors of the film, state that the opening day TN gross of the film is a fantastic Rs 2.6 crore. The various multiplexes which fall in the Chengalpet territory such as Mayajaal, Luxe, Rohini are doing fantastic business for the film. The weekend days are expected to do even better than the opening day, and the film is expected to become a Hit by the end of its opening weekend itself.
LKG grossed 32 lakhs in Chennai city on its opening day; the other new release Kanne Kalaimaane could gross 17 lakhs in the city. LKG is comparatively weaker down south of TN, as expected, due to the urban / semi urban nature of the film’s target audience. LKG is already being proclaimed as the 4th commercial hit of the year for Kollywood after Viswasam, Petta and Dhilluku Dhuddu 2.
RJ Balaji will be seen next in Boomerang, set for release on March 8th. The resounding success of LKG is expected to benefit Boomerang as well. The director of the film, Kannan, had earlier given a good break for Balaji in Ivan Thandhiran (2017).
