To mark Selvaraghavan’s birthday on March 5th, his cult classic Aayirathil Oruvan (2010) was screened at the popular GK Cinemas in the outskirts of Chennai. Due to the immense demand from movie buffs, an extra show was screened too, and the film was played in both the evening and night show slots. We managed to get seats for the night show screening and the atmosphere was electric! Selvaraghavan fans were in the house and screamed their lungs out before the start of the film to show their excitement. His upcoming NGK's teaser was screened to great response prior to the commencement of Aayirathil Oruvan.
It was a highly engaged crowd at the show. All of them were seeing it on repeat and knew exactly when to clap and hoot. The highlight scenes and moments were captured by fans on their mobile phones and this playback show was a trending phenomenon on Twitter. The media was also there at the end of the show to get the audience response to the film, like how they do after the first day first show of new releases.
The unanimous consensus was that Aayirathil Oruvan is a classic from the maverick director. With a bigger budget, better VFX & visual execution, and some filtering of his wild ideas, this film would’ve soared even higher. We hope Selvaraghavan gets to make a sequel to the film, on popular demand. Read More
